♦Spend a day evaluating every piece of clothing in your
closet. Remember, the chances are that if you outgrew it (literally), you're not
going to be returning to that 20- or 30-year-old figure again. People physically
change with age. And personalities change with age too. And thus clothing tastes
and sizes change with age. And so do trendy styles.
So now is the time to decide if what was once a cute, sexy or
sophisticated outfit still holds the appeal it did for you five years ago. Or
decide if that fashionable suit you bought seven years ago is still so.
♦If not,
donate it to charity while it's still in wearable shape. Or use it as material
to sew some throw pillow cases or other crafty items. You'll still be keeping
the memory that way!
♦Can't
decide? Tag that clothing item with a "donate if not worn by X date"
note.
♦If after that you still need more room in your clothes
closet, consider space-saving gadgets such as the "closet doubler" at
Organize-Everything . The "closet doubler" gives you a second closet rod/bar. It
hooks onto your existing closet rod/bar by posts. So then you could hang shirts
on your original closet bar and then hang another row of shirts directly below
those on this additional bar. So you're using the same space, just doubling its
clothes storage capacity.
