Storing Bulky Food Bags of Chips,
Pretzels and Cookies
Do you buy big bags of potato chips, pretzels, animal
crackers and more? Some of these items, such as the animal crackers, store well
in food storage canisters (preferably see-through cylindrical plastic food
storage canisters or glass food storage
canisters so you can quickly see what's in each). Food storage canisters keep these
snacks handy too, whether you keep them on the table or in the pantry.

Storage canisters (11

Another option is to store bags of chips and pretzels in rectangular, plastic
windowsill planters. They're available at any discount retailer
in the garden section for a few bucks. Set the planter on top of your
refrigerator to cluster together and hold these awkward shaped bags of goodies
in a long, narrow space.
Also purchase a dozen large metal binder clips for about $3
from an office supply store to keep bags shut once opened. These clips are less
prone to snapping and breaking than the typical decorative plastic clips stores
often sell for this purpose.
But if you prefer decorative kitchen bag clips,
just make sure you get sturdy ones that won't snap and break after you've barely
used them. And you may even prefer clips with a magnet on the back so that you
can keep them handy and nearby on the side of your refrigerator.
