Home Organization Tips Using Just
Your Interior Doors

Many
good home organization tips discuss how to best use one area that's in every
room of your home. What's that? It's the backside of your interior doors. This
is great space for organizing and storage of all kinds of items in your home.
Plus whatever you put here stays handy and visible. Here are just a few home
organization tips and products for using the back of any interior door in your
home.
♦Got a full-length
free-standing mirror taking up floor space in your bedroom? Get rid of it. Mount
a full-length mirror on the inside of your BEDROOM CLOTHES CLOSET DOOR. Then you can use that free
floor space (if you need to) for holding something like a lingerie chest or
jewelry armoire.
♦Put hooks on the back of the
MASTER BEDROOM DOOR to hold your bathrobes. Always use mountable racks
containing multiple hooks or a stand-alone double hook. Both of these styles
hold more items in the same space than an ordinary single hook. The multiple
hook racks also can hold purses, book bags, coats, umbrellas and more.

Classic Over The Door Hook Rack

♦If you do use single hooks, place
them strategically in different spots on the back of the door. You'll be able to
hang more items, such as purses, without them bumping into each other. And be sure to use sturdy screw-in
hooks versus adhesive plastic ones which tend to fall down with too much weight,
constant slamming doors or temperature changes and time.
♦Use back of the door vinyl shoe
organizers for more than just shoes. Put one on the back of your HOME OFFICE
DOOR to hold small office supplies (or craft supplies if this room also serves
as your arts and crafts center). Put an over the door organizer on the back of
your CHILD'S BEDROOM DOOR to hold stuffed-animals or small dolls (one in each
compartment).
♦Use a back of the door pocket
organizer in the HALL OR ENTRYWAY CLOSET DOOR to hold gloves, dog leashes, flash
lights, small travel umbrellas and other on-the-go items you use regularly. You
can even roll up rain jackets and stuff them into the pockets.
♦A plastic over-the-door pocket
organizer on the back of the BATHROOM DOOR can hold rolled extra towels, wash
cloths and toiletries. You can still put a double hook above the top of the organizer
pockets.
That'll temporarily hold bathrobes and clothing items while you're showering
or bathing and getting dressed.
♦If you put a back of the door
pocket organizer on the inside of the LINEN CLOSET DOOR, you'll have more space
to hold smaller items such as pillowcases, hand towels, dish towels and wash
cloths.
♦In addition to using back of the
door pocket or shoe organizers, or instead of, you also can use hanging wall
pocket wicker baskets. These come in wire designs too which are good if your
prefer see-through containers that also don't collect dust and debris (falls through
to the floor so you just have to vacuum, not dust).
♦The back of a CENTRAL CLOSET DOOR
also works well for holding a family calendar. Or hang a cork board there. Make
it the family "headquarters" or "command post". Attach a calendar to the cork
board but also post notes to each family member, leave telephone messages,
shopping lists, reminders, emergency phone numbers, maps, etc. This information
will then be out-of-sight to visitors but not forgotten by your own family.
♦Hang a slim wire over the door
rack on the back of the PANTRY DOOR or KITCHEN CLOSET DOOR. It'll hold spices,
boxes and cans of food and more. Or use it to only hold household cleaning
supplies.
These are just some home organization tips that will help you make the most of
this obvious, yet hidden, space in your home.
