♦Try to keep your maps in only one or two places. That means
usually that you keep your maps in the car where you'll definitely use them
most. And/or you'll keep your maps inside your home--because sometimes you do
use them to plan trips. But only keep maps in one place in your auto and home.
Don't spread them around different locations.
♦Maps in your car...
Keep them in one location such as...
►...in the
pockets of a back of the seat auto organizer
►...in your glove box
►...in a
built-in side-compartment of your car
The
Map Case Organizer
from Stacks and Stacks folds flat, holds multiple maps and fits in your glove box:

♦Maps in your home...The best location for map
organizers or map storage is a central location that everyone in the family
knows about
.
►If you use a ready-made map organizer, such as the
one pictured above for the car, perhaps you might store it in your magazine
rack.
►If you have many maps, you can file them in individual
labeled manila and hanging file folders in your office desk.
►Or you can file your maps into a single accordion file--they
usually have 12 pockets and are portable to carry with you. Look in the office
supply section of retailers for accordion style pocket folders.
►Also, consider putting each map in a top loading sheet
protector with a label you place on the front of it. Then keep these in a single three-ring notebook on your book shelf. Put a label on the spine and
front of the notebook that says maps.
►Of course,
you can always reuse a shoe box to hold maps too. Stick a label on the top and
outside so everyone knows what's in it. Or get some colorful contact paper and
wrap it to suit your home decor (or wrap it in an old map). Then toss your maps
(and tour book guides) inside so they're all in one place when you need them.
