♦Good wreath storage keeps your holiday wreaths in good shape and
protects them from bugs and dust. A lot of wreath storage bags are great for
doing the latter--keeping the bugs and dust out. But if they are soft-sided
wreath storage bags they do nothing for keeping your wreaths from getting
crushed. So it's up to you to put the bags somewhere safe.
♦If the wreaths are lightweight and similar in bulk, you could
put each one in a wreath storage bag and then stack the bags on top of each
other inside a large plastic storage container. Don't put anything else on top of the
wreaths stored in the container because that might crush them.
♦Similarly,
don't stack too many wreaths upon each other. When you add more weight to a
stack, you increase the chances of crushing the items at the bottom of the
stack.
♦Also,
don't put the wreaths (whether they're in wreath storage bags or not) in
cardboard storage boxes because inevitably you'll set another box on the
cardboard box holding the wreaths. What will happen is the cardboard box top
will then sink in from the weight and it has nowhere to go accept to crush your
wreaths. Your wreaths might be hardy and durable. But do you want to take that
chance?
♦ Organize.com sells a
Wreath Storage Bag- 25" Diameter - $12.99
and a
Wreath Storage Bag- 30" Diameter
(pictured
left).
These work great for keeping your holiday wreaths dust free and bug free while in
storage. And since they're translucent bags, you can see at a glance which
wreath the bag contains (which is particularly good if you have decorative
wreaths for other holidays too).
♦If you're using the color coded system such as all red
storage containers for Christmas, then you'll want a solid red color wreath
storage bag. This
Deluxe 30" Titanium Collection Wreath Keeper
pictured
to the left also promises more usage and sturdiness than the conventional clear vinyl
wreath storage bags because it's made of more durable material. It comes in a
25" size too.
Notice its handle. You might consider stringing a short rope or wire in a
corner between two walls of your garage ceiling. You could attach one side of
the indoor clothesline or rope to a hook or such with a simple knot. That way
you can easily remove that one side of the rope to slide the wreath bags onto
the rope once a year. Since you're storing the wreaths individually in a hanging
position now, you know they won't get crushed.
♦If
your interested in a sturdy plastic
Wreath Storage Box
, this one is sold by Stacks and Stacks
and holds up to a 20 inch wreath.
